Local Shopping in Portsmouth, NH

Gear and I love going on road trips and one of our favorite spots to visit is Portsmouth, NH. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend and spend the day up north.

Before reaching our final destination, we tried out a local restaurant, Robert’s Maine Grille in Kittery, Maine. While in an entirely different state, Kittery is just a 10 minute drive from Portsmouth and has some great outlet shops!

Our lunch, jumbo lobster rolls with fries, were delicious but the star was the draft beer flight. They present the six 5 oz. samples on a bed of crushed ice as you would do with oysters. So fun!

Can't go wrong with lobster & beer.

Our first stop in Portsmouth is always the same place, Attrezzi’s. The bottom floor is filled with jewelry, handbags, home-goods, and kitchen accessories (my zone) and right up the stairs is a wine tasting room complete with spices, oils, and various libations. Gear and I typically part ways as soon as we enter the store.

What I love about Attrezzi is that there is something for everyone. I snapped a few pics of items that caught my eye.

I refrained from making any purchases but Gear walked out with two spice rubs and a nice bottle of chocolate wine.

One store I have always admired but never spent time in is Puttin’ on the Glitz. It sells European style jewelry, nostalgic and chic modern hats, and contemporary and vintage handbags. Walking into the store is like stepping back in time! With hats making a big comeback this fall I couldn’t resist trying on a few.

At over $300 for each hat and the necklace priced at $160, I left the store empty-handed but have added a fedora to my “must find” list.

Another unexpected stop was at Liz-ology on Market Street. Maybe it was the big “Sale” sign out front, but I am glad I was drawn in! It’s a local boutique that has very on trend apparel and accessories.

It was another successful window shopping stop and I made sure to point out a certain leather draped jacket to Gear as a possible Christmas gift.

Another traditional stop for Gear and I is 2nd Time Around. With store fronts throughout the U.S. it’s not a small shop  but no trip to Portsmouth is complete without stopping in!

With the holiday weekend, there were some great sales throughout the store including 70% off jewelry and select accessories.

Unlike the other stores, I DID make a purchase at 2nd Time Around and walked away with two rings and a necklace. Originally these three pieces totaled $85, but with the sale I only paid $21.

The best part of the day was spending time with Gear, but discovering these great local shops was a bonus! If you ever find yourself in Portsmouth I highly recommend taking a peek at each of these spots.
