Primetime Polish Up: Episode 104 – The #Emmys #ERedCarpet

The Primetime Polish Up is my weekly post showing off my nail polish color of the week and a review of what I binged watched.  I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!  Comment here or tweet to me @gingercouture1 or @JoyAttardo.

I kept things very simple this week.  My office is hosting our annual career fair so we have many employers visiting campus.  That means lots of handshaking so I wanted a color that popped but isn’t too distracting.

It was a big night in the entertainment world.  It was a scorching 100 degrees on the #Emmys red carpet.  Ricky Gervais said “It’s like walking into an oven.”  Many stars were fanning themselves as they strolled down the carpet.  Despite the heat, everyone’s makeup was flawless and didn’t let a hot day ruin their red carpet looks.

I will start with my two favorite red carpet hosts, Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic.  Ryan Seacrest gave props to his own suit line and was of course on fleak (yes I am incorporating on fleak into my vocabulary.) Giuliana Rancic popped her pale pink Ziad Nakad beaded gown.

Ryan kicked off the night with Jane Lynch in a white hot in a black and white tuxedo coat with a silver statement necklace.  Laverne Cox donned very flattering turquoise cutout Calvin Klein Collection gown. Amy Schumer, lead actress nominee followed the color theme with a deep turquoise Zac Posen strapless gown.  I cannot wait for Tituss Burgess to return to the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to return to Netflix.  He rocked his Bonobos tux paired with a bowtie from The Tie Bar.

Taraji P. Henson brought such a sexy, edgy look to her classic black dress.  The chain spaghetti straps added a touch of detail and bling to her Alexander Wang gown.  My favorite part of her look, the swing bob haircut that we are both sporting right now.  We are destined to be best friends.

Kevin Spacey, politician on the Netflix screen and on the red carpet, he wouldn’t give anything from the much anticipated season 4.  Edie Falco’s red sparkle clutch brought out the red beading detail on her Prada gown. And Mindy Kaling, STUNNING.  LOVE HER. She has me rethinking yellow.  The glitz on the belt and cap sleeves of the dress is just the right amount of detail and her yellow jewels compliment the entire outfit.

Don Cheadle went with a very sharp blue tuxedo coat.  He said season 5 of House of Lies is full of surprises!  Brad Goreski styled Sarah Hyland in a Zac Posen gown with a beautiful structured neckline.

I cannot tell you how happy it made me when Jane Krakowski broke out in a mini song and dance to the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt theme song in her Bibhu Mohapatra gown.  Jimmy Fallon and I have many things in common, but I learned on the red carpet that he also gets a Carvel ice cream cake for his birthday every year too.

Claire Danes arrived in another chain strap look and I can’t get enough.  I agree with Ryan Seacrest, the maroon sparkle Prada gown is very rockstar-esque.  Speaking of rock stars, Queen Latifah wore of one of the few white gowns we saw tonight.  Again, all about the detail.  The minimal sparkle detail is screaming bling.   And last but of course not least, James Corden had me cracking up when said “When you’re married going out is looking for other people to talk too” hahaha.

I’ll be joining Giuliana and Brad for Fashion Police on Monday night to see if we agree or not!  What were your favorite Emmy fashion moments?

Talk soon,
