Wardrobe Wed: The Statement Necklace

For the second week in a row, Joy and I are both rocking a similar accessory: statement necklaces. I swear, there is no purposeful coordination!

Today, I woke up to TORRENTIAL downpours that show no signs of stopping, so decided to wrap up my locks. There is nothing worse than looking like a drowned rat when you have a full day of meetings ahead of you.

I first pulled my hair into a low pony. From there, I divided the hair into two thick strands, twisted them around one another, and tied off the end. It’s not quite a braid, and not quite a regular ponytail.

To hide any rain splotches, I chose a darker outfit. This earth toned tweed skirt by Premise (a Saver’s find from two years ago) has great structure and went nicely with a black tank blouse. I chose to break out my LifeStride mahogany ankle boots to combat the rain and finished the look with my hunter green jeweled necklace.

My idea of “rain gear”

Sleek structure.

Typical of this time of year, Joy also has back to back appointments and meetings. With no time to spare, she is headed right from work into the city for Boston Fashion week’s “Hand to Fashion” event. Joy went a tad trendier than usual for work but her H&M blazer gives this style the desk to dinner look she wants.

Joy’s full look:

Splendid muscle t-shirt from Lord and Taylor; Skinny Max; Jeans from Lord and Taylor; Kenneth Cole statement necklace and matching earrings from Macy’s; Adrienne Vittadini embellished flats from DSW.

I wonder if Joy & I can make it three weeks in a row with our like-minded outfit choices. Tune in next Wednesday to find out!
