Runway to the Everyday: Maxi Dresses

Celebrity styles inspire my everyday looks.  For the everyday girl like me on a non-profit professional’s budget, I love looks that align with my personal style aesthetic so I can incorporate glamorous celebrity looks into my ready to wear lifestyle.

I would wear a maxi dress every day in the summer if I could.  So many flattering (and cost effective) options this season.  My inspiration came from a party look of one of my go-to style icons, Kendall Jenner and another look from the Cannes Film Festival, Sasha Lane.

I love the A-Line and bold geometric print and colors.  The blues and greens are perfect for a daytime meal with the girls.

Call me crazy, but did I some workplace trends on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet?!  Fashion Police and I were in a bit of disagreement over these looks this time, I saw lots of everyday possibilities.

Alright, alright, DVF definitely doesn’t fall into my budget but I couldn’t resist.  I love military green, such a classic color and this dress is timeless.  The pale pink jacket is perfect with a pair of white slacks for a summer professional look.  A crisp shell with the pencil skirt is all you need to crush a work meeting.

Pinsperation: Summer Dress Code

This morning my inbox was greeted with a much-anticipated, glorious announcement: Summer dress code is now in session!

As always, Pinterest helped me determine some summer styles:

Pops of Color | Comfortable fabrics | Opened-toed sandals | Minimal accessories

“Less is more” to beat the summer heat!

These looks and more can be seen on our Pinterest board “Just Another Day at the Office”.

Wardrobe Wed: Denim Dress

There is something incredibly satisfying about a fabric that is both structured and light weight. Denim does both.

I went full pastel with a multi-strand pink pearl necklace, pearl and diamond ring and pointed pumps:

Vintage pearl necklace | Pearl + diamond ring | Coral shoes by Comfort Plus

Full Look:

Denim dress by Sharagano | Peach lip + Winged liner

Did I mention this dress has pockets? Love!

Runway to the Everyday: TV Mom Style

Celebrity styles inspire my everyday looks.  For the everyday girl like me on a non-profit professional’s budget, I love looks that align with my personal style aesthetic so I can incorporate glamorous celebrity looks into my ready to wear lifestyle.

Happy Mother’s Day! Hugs and Kisses to the mom in your life!  Modern Family, Empire, Blackish, and Billions are very high on my tv watch list right now.  I binge watch these shows every few weeks for the comedic one liners, the drama and suspense, positively spreading awareness about societal issues (seriously Blackish writers, I don’t know how you do it!)  The mother role shows us the range of the career mom,the single mom, the stay-at-home mom, so many powerful moms on tv right now!  Whatever they do, they do it in style!

Joy and I were overwhelmed by the talent and tenacity at this year’s fashion show! The technique, creativity, and perspective of these students was beyond brilliant.

The Fashion Club class officers presenting “Aftershock”. Yes, I was fixated on those shoes!

One of our favorite parts is the “Trashion Show” section, where designers created looks out of recyclable materials:

We can’t wait to see what these students come up with next Spring!

Runway to the Everyday: Glamorous Gowns

Celebrity styles inspire my everyday looks.  For the everyday girl like me on a non-profit professional’s budget, I love looks that align with my personal style aesthetic so I can incorporate glamorous celebrity looks into my ready to wear lifestyle.

The Met Gala, not only a fundraising event for one of my favorite museums, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but the red carpet is one of the best fashion nights of the year.  The custom DVF were some of my favorite gowns this year!

DVF Met Gala: Pre-cocktail 2016

Imaan Hammam, Riley Keough, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dylan Penn (see this photo and more about DVF and the Met Gala at dvf.com)

While I don’t have a red carpet gala coming up, a black tie wedding, birthday party, and awards banquet will do!
